Our dedicated staff members are familiar faces, as many have worked here for over five years, with several passing the ten-year mark.

 

 

Tony Cleaver

Managing Director

 

Tony Cleaver was born in Cardiff, but his family moved to the Cayman Islands when he was 11 years old. He attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, and came to work at Alphasoft Ltd. in the Summer of 1988, joining the staff full-time in 1989. There were only three people on payroll back then, and the company’s main focus was custom software development on SCO Xenix using COBOL.

 
Tony has been with the company since its infancy, and became Managing Director in 1996. He is actively involved in all aspects of the business from dealing with customers one-on-one to managing the orders for some of the Cayman Islands’ most prestigious firms and the local government. His long-term relationship with clients and suppliers has secured Alphasoft’s position as a top-rated local IT company offering reliable, professional service and state-of-the-art business solutions.
   

Paul Johnson

Financial Controller

& Operations Manager

 

Paul Johnson hails from Christchurch, New Zealand. An avid sportsman, he played Rugby League for NZ when he wasn’t studying Business. In 1996 he moved to the UK and worked for numerous investment banks as a Reconciliation Clerk and Credit Control Business Analyst. This led to a one-year stint as a Business Analyst in Zurich.

 
He and his wife moved to Grand Cayman in October 2003, and he worked for the Safehaven Ltd. Golf Course as their Accountant until September 2005.  Beyond his role as Financial Controller, he is a Sales Representative, makes and lands orders on a daily basis, and oversees the deliveries to and from the office. He is currently studying for his ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification, and in his spare time is an active member of the Cayman Rugby Football Club and the Squash Club.

 

   
 

Victoria Wheaton

Sales & Marketing Manager

 

Victoria Wheaton has spent most of her life in the Cayman Islands. She joined CI Govt. Computer Services, and ended up remaining for 10 years with a specialized stint in the Y2K office before moving to the CI Courts Office as Information Systems Analyst. She spent five years at the Courts Office before the offer to join Alphasoft as Sales and Marketing Manager was made. She joined Alphasoft on May 1st, 2006, and in that time has promoted our in-house HP Toner Recycling Program, created a comprehensive selection of brochures on HP Products, organised numerous courses held in our IT Training Centre and is in the process of launching our new website.

 

   
 

Sean Slattery

Senior Systems Engineer

& McAfee Certified Instructor

 

Sean Patrick Kevin Slattery was born in Saigon, but before he moved to the Cayman Islands, he lived in Paris (where he met his Swiss wife, Tanja). After studying Computer Science at university in Paris, Sean held several positions including Network Administrator at the OECD, Assistant LAN Manager at Compaq France and Assistant Desktop Services Manager at J.P. Morgan & Co. A member of staff at Alphasoft for many years now, Sean is now an authorized McAfee instructor and so when he is not creating solutions for clients, he is busy teaching classes in our customized IT Training Centre.

 

   
 

Andy Hunn

Senior Consultant

& Solutions Architect

 

Andy Hunn was born in Norfolk, UK. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1979, and ten years later moved out to Saudi Arabia where he was the Novell Network Administrator for British Aerospace. Upon his return to the UK in 1997 he was hired by the Computer Science Corporation (CSC) and assumed the role of Regional Senior Support Analyst on the Anglian Water Project. He was then contracted by Bull Information Systems as the Server Management Team Lead for the Eastern Electricity Novell corporate network. From thence he joined Texas Utilities Europe as the IT Infrastructure Design Engineer and Novell Technical Design Architect, and after that became the Network Infrastructure Manager at Siemens, UK.

 

Andy moved to the Cayman Islands in 2001 and began working at Alphasoft Ltd. where he has remained ever since. He provides solutions to global blue-chip clients and projects include strategic planning, business continuity planning, developing and maintaining corporate standards, and all aspects of delivering, managing and maintaining clients’ critical IT systems.

   
 

Martin McQuillan

Network & Access

Infrastructure Engineer

 

After gaining his BA honours degree in Politics and Health, Martin began his career as a Sales Executive for one of Irelands leading distributors and was quickly promoted to Sales Director for Northern Ireland.    However, computer engineering was always Martin’s first loveand this prompted him to obtain his MCP and MCSE in quick succession which  lead to an influx of consultancy work in his home town of Belfast, Northern Ireland.  Martin made the big move to Cayman in 2001 and spent four years as Senior Engineer with PC Powerhouse.   His qualifications include Citrix CCA, VMWare VCP, MCSE and HP Procurve ASE.   In addition to Martin’s technical expertise, his sales background has taught him the importance of communicating effectively with his clients and he is very customer focused.

 

   

Lynne Firth

Systems Engineer

 

Lynne Firth was born in New Brunswick, Canada. While she was still a child, her mother moved the family east to Toronto where she subsequently grew up and lived until she moved to the Cayman Islands in 1991. She began in the world of computers in her twenties and was working with the Ministry of Education in Toronto as a Programmer when she spied an ad in the Globe and Mail for a job in the Cayman Islands. She applied and got the job of Systems Analyst at Computer Services in the Government Administration Building.

 

She worked at Computer Services for a number of years before deciding to move into private industry, and it was at this point that Alphasoft came into the picture. In 1997 Lynne Firth joined Alphasoft Ltd. as a Systems Engineer and Customer Service Manager. Twelve years later she is now Service Coordinator, organizing the warranty, service and repair of computers, printers and a myriad of other hardware components brought in by private owners or corporate clients.

   
 

Andrew Brandon

Service Manager

 

Andrew Brandon was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the Cayman Islands in 1977. He began working at Hampstead in 1986, and when they decided to begin selling computers and other hardware in the early 90’s, Andrew gained training and experience repairing computers, fax machines, copiers, scanners, printers, and pretty much any other type of electronic equipment that was current at that time. He joined Alphasoft Ltd. in 1997 after leaving Hampstead with the rank of Service Manager.

 

Andrew has multiple and extensive certifications enabling him to service and repair all business-line HP products. He is also our Apple technician (and guru), so he is the man to talk to when it comes to anything Mac.

 

   
 

Roydell Connor

Senior Technician

& Bloomberg Support Engineer

 

Roydell Connor is Caymanian and is the second longest-term employee at Alphasoft Ltd. Although he took some computer courses in school, he wasn’t really planning to get into the IT industry. He started out as a Divemaster working at Morritt’s Tortuga Club in East End, and worked there for five years before hearing of a Technician position becoming available at Alphasoft. He joined the company in 1992, and his first trip was a two-week course with HP in Miami on repairing and servicing printers. In the following years he travelled to Puerto Rico for printer and server training. Since then he has expanded his knowledge to become the Bloomberg Manager for the Cayman Islands, he supports Equant (airline check-in systems) and is contracted as the printer service technician for a number of prestigious local firms. Each year he updates his training in new technology to ensure that his expertise is up-to-date.

 

   

Ron Connor

Technician

 

Ron Connor is Caymanian by birth and attended school in Grand Cayman. Upon graduating he left to join Hertz, delivering cars for the company. In 1997 he decided that he would like to pursue other means of employment. His cousin Roydell was already working for Alphasoft Ltd. and so he applied and got the job of deliveryman. Since that time he has worked his way through a diverse range of training, and has been a qualified technician for many years now, specializing in HP hardware service and warranty repairs, Apple service and warranty repairs, Equant and Bloomberg support.

 

   

Wallace Forbes

Junior Technician

 

Born in Grand Cayman, Wallace was the deliveryman for Haagen Dazs for many years before deciding that he would like to move on and explore other prospects. He joined Alphasoft Ltd. soon after Hurricane Ivan hit, and immediately became an invaluable member of staff as we and other companies began the rebuilding process. Since then he has been given in-house technical training, and when he is not out making deliveries or picking up empty toners for recycling, he is installing hardware components and assisting in the repair of notebooks, desktops and printers.

   
 

Shandi Smith

Receptionist

 

Shandi was born in Cayman and attended John Gray High School from which she graduated in 2005. She started at Alphasoft Ltd. in April 2007, and is first point of contact for customers, as well as administrating the front office.
